What is the challenge?

Starting on the 1 September 2021, and running throughout September we’re challenging you to Step Up, choose an iconic virtual walk or choose your own distance while raising vital funds.

How does the challenge work?

We have five different challenges to accommodate walkers of all abilities, whether you are just starting out, or are regularly out walking. There’s something for everyone to get active and challenge themselves.

When you sign up, you’ll be asked the distance you would like to walk (based on an iconic UK walk, or you can choose your own mile challenge). Throughout the challenge you’ll need to log your miles walked on your own fundraising page, to reach your mile target.

Where can I complete the challenge?

You can choose to complete your miles wherever you like. Whether it’s in your living room, in your garden, in the park or on the pavement. You decide the pace and you decide the place. If you're able to cover your miles outside, we ask you to do so safely, following current government guidelines.

What happens after I sign up?

We’ll be in touch to make sure you have everything you need to get going on your epic challenge.

Once the whole challenge has finished, as a way of saying thank you, if you fundraise, we will send you a medal.

Is there a registration fee?

Yes, each place costs £5 per person. This will ensure you’re fully signed up; you will have full access to the leader boards and receive your medal after you have completed your walk.  If you are walking with a group or a team, each individual will need to sign up to receive all the benefits.

What is the fundraising target?

We ask you to pledge to raise a minimum of £125 for Step Up September. The money you raise will help us to stamp out hunger in the UK.

Can I take part in a team?Yes! When you sign up to Step Up September and have created your fundraising page, you can create a team page to allow you and your friends and workmates to join your individual fundraising pages together so your fundraising contributes to a larger team goal.

Remember, you must sign up as an individual before creating or joining a team.

For more information on creating team pages and joining them, why not check out Managing Team pages | Enthuse Help Desk

Is there a minimum age to take part?

Participants who sign up for this event should be aged 16 or over. Children can take part in a team as long as an adult registers on their behalf and takes responsibility for them on the walk.

What is Enthuse and why am I using it for this challenge?

Enthuse is the website we are using for this virtual event, which will enable you to sign up, create a personalised fundraising page and have access to the event. Please note, all participants will need to use their Enthuse fundraising page for this event. This means you will be able to:

  • See how many walkers are taking part virtually with you

  • See how much money you and your team (if applicable) have raised

  • Check out the top fundraisers

  • Track your walk on our virtual maps and see how you’re getting on with your walk (you can also share this with friends and family)

  • Receive postcards via email from places along your walk to share with friends and family

How do I collect sponsorship?

The quickest and easiest way to collect sponsorship is through donations directly to your Enthuse fundraising page. However, you can also accept offline donations for your challenge too. Download your sponsorship form here: www.trusselltrust.org/get-involved/fundraise/useful-resources

How can I pay my fundraising to The Charity?

  • FitBit

  • Strava

  • MapMyFitness

To find out how to link Strava to your fundraising page, you can view the article here: https://help.enthuse.com/en/articles/4147251-how-to-connect-strava-to-your-personal-fundraising-page

Or if you don't use fitness devices and apps, don't worry, you can log your miles manually on your Step Up September fundraising page!

What about coronavirus (COVID-19)?

When out walking please adhere to local guidance on COVID-19 restrictions:  https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

Do I have to walk my Step Up challenge?

If you’re a wheelchair user or have limited mobility, you can still complete the mile challenges or set your own distance. Making sure it is enough of a challenge means people will be more likely to sponsor you.
